and proceeded to burn it, despite walls and appeals from the rest of the villagers. We then embarked on the "St. Monance" and weighed anchor about 14.30 hours arriving in Hongkong at 17.10 hours.

T consider it was most unfortunate that Lieutenant Commander Ingham considered it necessary to return when he did. As long as we were with Wong Fuk Chi, T ar convinced that he would have made every effort to round up the pirates known to be in the district, but I am afraid that he will have ceased operation as soon as we left, in fact, I Baw one junk full of soldiers returning to Au Tau.

The expedition will, however, I ansure have a very good moral effect, and I am convinced that further good work could be done if another such expedition was arranged in the near future.
